What was holding ACEP back?

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) serves more than 38,000 members across emergency medicine. Another consultancy had written ACEP an ambitious strategic technology plan, but the plan did not explain how to reach its vision. ACEP needed a roadmap, not just a destination. It partnered with Ricochet to turn the strategy into manageable changes it could carry out.

What did Ricochet build?

Ricochet evaluated ACEP's current systems to see which fit the planned future. The team found a need for new learning management, financial management, association management and marketing solutions. Because too much change at once could overwhelm staff, Ricochet set a five-year timeline that accounts for how the systems will work together and keeps disruption to daily operations low. Ricochet also organized demos with leading association software providers and built projections of upfront and ongoing costs.

What changed for ACEP's members?

Phasing new systems over five years aims to minimize disruption to ACEP's day-to-day operations and avoid overwhelming staff. The roadmap considered how the different solutions would work together. With the roadmap and budget set, ACEP is ready to begin its digital transformation.
