What was holding PAYO back?

PayrollOrg (PAYO) was created when two major payroll associations unified, and it now serves more than 20,000 members. The new organization had to forge a single, compelling membership model from two distinct legacies. Its goal was ambitious: enhance member value and build a stronger financial foundation through a revitalized dues structure. PAYO turned to Ricochet to research its members and estimate the financial return of new benefits.

What did Ricochet do?

Ricochet started with a full audit that cataloged every benefit from both legacy organizations. The team then benchmarked dues and offerings at similar associations to gauge market expectations and find room to stand apart. Working with PAYO, Ricochet designed new benefits and membership packages and tested them with members in virtual focus groups. A final report covered dues rate sensitivity, membership tier preferences, group membership and benefit assortment.

What changed for PAYO's members?

PAYO members helped shape the new model directly. Their reactions in virtual focus groups tested each benefit and package before anything was finalized. The final report shows how members respond to dues rates, which tiers they prefer and how they view group membership. That gives PAYO what it needs to offer members of both legacy organizations one model built around what they said they value.
